it feels good to be home
After spending 2.5 weeks abroad, it certainly does feel really good to be home.
For those of you following along on IG (follow along here if you don’t already), you know that C and I spent 1 week in Italy with his family [Rome followed by Ariano Irpino, a tiny tiny rural town]. And then, we broke off and took our own trip to Amsterdam and London. Oh my gosh, it was SO. MUCH. FUN. I’m also partially convinced now that any true vacation is minimum 2 weeks, if you can swing it. That way you have time to wind down, enjoy the vacation, and then I find that you start feeling like you’re ready to come home somewhere around the 2 week mark. Anyways, like I was saying, it certainly does feel sooo good to be home. It feels nice to wake up in my own bed, get back on a routine [and my workout routine], and frankly, just waking up in my own bed feels great.
While we were away it seems we officially jumpstarted into Fall and then thereafter immediately into Winter [there was talk of flurries yesterday? What is happening?!] Before we left, I could still get one or two days of sunshine [when I took these photos], but now it’s already time to transition to winter coats and scarves! And, you know it’s really winter in New York when the building heating starts up and you can see all the open windows of the adjacent apartments who also don’t have central air [it’s that pre-war West Village building life]. Still wouldn’t change a thing!
For now [and I’m hoping it stays this way], I only have one more trip before the end of the year. So when I return, I get to dive right in and fully commit to the holiday cheer. [No joke, I already have notes on my phone of all the NYC holiday must sees and holiday decorations to buy for my apartment. This is V serious fam’.] Those of you who know me know that I LOVE the holidays [and may have already started listening to Christmas carols.]
Anyway, I was just popping in here to check in. In so many ways it feels like time is zooming by, seasons are zooming by [but like actually], and the end of the year is quickly approaching. But all that being said, I couldn’t be more grateful that I get to return home here, in my tiny yet cozy apartment in NYC.
