turning a new leaf
It’s officially fall here in NYC. Let me repeat. It’s officially fall here in NYC. [Can you believe it?] There’s a crisp twang in the air that feels both familiar and foreign at the same time. Familiar because this time of year always reminds me of the start of school and another academic year [yes, even though I’ve been out of school for years now.] Fall will always remind me of back to school. But it’s also a bit foreign because for the last 2.5 years in SF I didn’t have seasons; it was rather temperate all year round.
And I can’t help but ask where did the time go. I can’t quite say it feels like summer zoomed by [because boy was it a HOT summer] but I just can’t believe it’s already October. [Which means it’s almost November, so almost Thanksgiving, so almost Christmas (and then 2020!) eep!!]
And with the change of the seasons, there seems to be turning a new leaf [pun intended] in my journey here in New York as well--
Maybe it’s because last Friday I helped coordinate the going away party of my bestest friend who I’ve known since elementary school. She’s finally taking the leap she’s been talking about for years and moving out to LA!
Maybe it’s because its officially official: my two old roommates have moved out of our old SF apartment. One has already made it to LA and one is literally en route to New York as I type this [eep!]
Maybe it’s because at work we finally launched /Fashion and can say we survived Fashion Month. And things are starting to feel like normal again.
Maybe it’s because in 4 days I’ll finally be departing on a Eurotrip that has been in the works for almost a year. The boyfriend, his mom, his dad, his brother and his girlfriend, and I [I know FULL HOUSE] are going to be travelling to Rome and then down to a small town in Southern Italy (where his family is from). Next up, C and I will then peel off from the group to visit Amsterdam and a hop over to London, before returning back to the States. [Any and all recs, please send them my way!]
For all of these moments, either my friends or I have been planning for the past months [if not years]. These were the seeds that were sown and now we are finally seeing it all come to fruition.
