at home in hayes
This week has been exhausting to say the least. If you’ve been following the press you know about the entire google manifesto fiasco of last week [which I won’t delve into] and then of course the violence in Charlottesville. And I don’t know if it’s because they were back to back, but this time it really just felt like I couldn’t catch a break. So I found myself re-reading my old post- our brown is beautiful- because I needed a quick reminder. [Re-read if you need one too!]
While I used that post and this space to vent some of my feelings, I actually want to do the exact opposite this time, if you’ll let me. I want to just catch up- you and I- as it has been quite some time. I just want to chat if that’s okay, and I’m resorting to this space to bring back the sparkle I think I [we] need.
So, since we last talked, Rolanda found a new home- a beautiful victorian home, to be exact, in Hayes Valley, and I couldn’t be more excited. [PSA-moving is the most emotionally exhausting thing ever. Like ever. And the funny part is, I didn’t even really do anything. All of the hard parts, like the heavy lifting and actual transport, movers and friends did. (S/O to our friends- old and new- you’re a real one.)]
Our new place is slowly coming together. I’m still trying to find the perfect set of twinkle lights for my fireplace mantle and chic rug for the perfect finishing touch. I’m excited to be living in a house that has character [read we have a list of action items for our house handyman] as opposed to a polished and pristine renovated high rise apartment.
I stepped out in my new neighborhood to check out the local views. I love it here- all the different colored house-so beautiful and so SF- don’t you? Not to mention, we’re walking distance from some of my SF faves -Little Gem, Les Ros [so basic, but I’m a sucker for thai], and soon to open Salt and Straw [ice cream is my guilty pleasure].
So here’s to a new happy home in Hayes!
