a quick check in
The truth is I’ve started this blog post many times over. I have so many thoughts and follow ups after my last post, but I simultaneously don’t know what to write. So after quite a few drafts, I’ve decided I’m just going to make a list of some of the things that have been running through my mind as of late. A quick check in if you may. Okay? Okay!
There’s no place like home-I went home to New York this past weekend to celebrate my mom and her twin’s combined birthday soiree, and it felt so good to be surrounded by family. Being with my mom and dad, my younger brother, as well as all of my aunts, uncles and cousins was so comforting. I hadn’t been home since Christmas so a trip back East was long overdue.
I’ve got real ones- For scheduling reasons, while I was away in New York, my roommates and I moved apartments. So what that really means is my roomates and my boyfriend moved me to my new apartment. I returned to San Francisco and arrived to my new apartment with all of my items including an organized closet and a made bed. [I know y’all, my tribe is so real.] And yes, we’re still in Hayes Valley!
Be patient my dear- If you recall, it’s been almost 2 months on my new team and things still feel, well, new. There’s so much to learn and absorb. [I feel like there’s always a new deck I could be reviewing or research I could be catching up on.] This feeling made me think back to when I felt the same exact way on my old team- how it was so hard to be new, to rebuild relationships, and to learn a new business. But, I eventually got it and had such a wonderful experience on my old team! It just takes time.
Healing is a process- iI’s also been almost 2 months since the tragic incident at YouTube, and everyday things get a little better. For me, it’s been a journey settling back into routine and creating those short hands that make things easier. Patience is also key here and so I’ve just been taking everything one step at a time. [To all of you who continue to reach out with supportive messages and check in on me-from the bottom of my heart, thank you <3]
Stop and smell the roses- Not far off from number 4, I’ve been trying to keep a positive mindset. While I’d say I generally am a positive person, these days I’ve had to make a little more of an effort to do so. So I try to take pleasure in some of the smaller things a little more- like my morning walk to my shuttle stop, for example.
I’m taking the long weekend to relax. The boyfriend and I are heading up to Sonoma for a quick getaway, and I’m hoping some wine [y’all know I’m team beer but for some reason Scribe Winery gets me] and lovely weather might be exactly what the doctor ordered. You can follow along on stories [follow me on IG if you don’t already].
Have a lovely Memorial Day Weekend!
