here's to the happiest couple
This weekend, I took a trip to New Britain, Connecticut to be a bridesmaid as my oldest cousin got married to the love of her life.
You have to remember. This is not just anyone. It’s not another Facebook announcement that pops up in my newsfeed [believe it or not, I’ve had quite a few recently…] that I then scroll by. This is my older cousin.
Growing up, I literally wanted to be her. I ordered what she ordered at restaurants, I watched the shows she wanted to watch [even if i didn't quite understand them], and, of course, I tried to wear the same items, if not, the same colors, as she did.[Confession- it was only until I got older and my little brother wanted to do the same exact things that I did that I realized how much she put up with me.]
In between the rehearsal dinner, practicing the choreography for our entrance [mine and Zach’s, the groom’s college roommate, was to Hotline Bling], and dodging passing thunderstorms [while also melting in the high humidity], I managed to slip in this quick shoot right before the big day.
Getting away from New York, spending the entire weekend with family, both old and new, being surrounded by so much love, and seeing the official blending of our new family, was a gift.
Here’s to the happiest couple!
P.S.- My cousin and her husband are now officially the Baummer-Carr’s because, yes ladies and gentleman, he took her name too! [We’re going to get along just fine ;)]
