I’m very much a city girl- a self proclaimed city girl at that.

I grew up in New York, spent my college years in Philadelphia, and will soon be moving across the country to San Francisco [t minus 38 days, eep!]. It almost goes without saying: I love cities. There’s always so much to do, something to see, and some place to go. You never know who you might run into [seriously, out of 8 million people, I don’t know how this keeps happening] or where the day might lead you. It’s sort of magical, actually.

However, just because I love cities doesn’t automatically mean that I hate the outdoors. I mean, let’s not get carried away, spiders and daddy long legs freak me out. But I would never pass up the chance for a good hike [I especially love night hikes] or, even better, stargazing [I could lay there for hours] if I had my way.

New York may be a concrete jungle, but I often seek refuge in the greenery. Sure, you may have to search a little longer, but it’s most certainly there. I certainly won’t have to look too hard on the West Coast. I’m looking forward to all my outdoor adventures -whether it be camping in Yosemite National Park, swimming in Carmelo, or hiking through the Grand Canyon. ….that and the fact that my travel time to Hawaii is cut in half. [hey, Hawaii is outdoorsy too ;]

But until then, you can catch me lounging on a picnic blanket in Prospect Park [I feel more immersed there than in Central Park] reading Everybody Rise under a perfect shady tree. Until I transplant to Cali, that’s me in my natural element.
