Summer Essentials: A Picnic Dress & the DR sun
The past couple of weeks have been jam packed with travel. Yes, I did spend a lovely week in Hawaii earlier in the summer. And yes, I did just get back from Chicago for Create & Cultivate (read my full review here). And in between, I spent some lovely downtime in the Dominican Republic with my family. [All blessings for which I’m grateful.] And I made sure I packed this summer number because let’s be real I wasn’t going to be able to wear it here in SF.
Where’d I get this find, you ask? Well, not too long before,, the ladies at ModCloth invited me to their store opening here in SF. Previously, I had only heard about ModCloth in passing and had never bought anything from them, so I was excited to be introduced to this brand and see their first ever fit shop in San Francisco. What’s a Fitshop you ask? Good question. Essentially, Modcloth uses their retail locations as storefronts for customers to try on virtually any items and then the ones you purchase get shipped to your door. That way you know everything will fit, and there’s no need to worry about returns.
If you’re following along in IG, you saw on Stories that the store was no short of aesthetic goals, and you know I’m a sucker for a pop of color--[take this yellow number I shot back in Costa Rica here or even this orange get up I wore for my birthday here.] So the store did not disappoint. Plus, they were playing the BEST pump up playlist I ever did hear. [Am I late? The Have a Great Day! Spotify playlist is my new favorite jam. Like I was really belting lyrics while I was trying on outfits.] Even better, get this, my stylist Jacquie was previously one of the students who attended my panel at Berkeley. She has since graduated and now is a full time stylist at Modcloth . Can you believe it? The world is too small.
So the lovely Jacquie walked through the entire floor with me as we picked out items that I loved. She even worked some magic to pair the items so I could get complete outfits. Truthfully, it was so helpful to have someone who knows the collections and inventory, what runs big and small, and what items would look good together on hand. And plus, we had a blast catching up! [So proud of you Jacquie; can’t wait to see where your journey takes you next!]
We landed on a couple of pieces [coming to the blog soon, don’t worry ;)] but one of my favorites was this picnic dress. [And apparently, everyone else loved it too because it was actually sold out online, so I took this one home with me from the store!] I just love the pattern and the cut. Does this dress not just scream summer to you? So of course, it made its appearance in the Dominican Republic and I was just so happy. Can you tell I love a dress with a good twirl?
