great finds @ goodwill
The past few weeks have been sort of a whirlwind- with trips to Monterey, Mendocino, New York, Philadelphia, and Chicago [post coming soon!] And crazily enough the travel isn’t over- with some upcoming trips Palm Springs and Los Angeles [I know, a literal whirlwind].
So, when my friends at SF Goodwill reached out to me, I was a little pressed for time. Turns out, Goodwill has an e-commerce store [did you know? I certainly didn’t. I swear it’s their best kept secret.] I found some fabulous pieces [c’mon how regal is that skirt], and I mixed and matched them with some of the pieces already in my wardrobe. The best part? 100% of the profit goes to supporting local programs and community resources that help to get underserved people back into the workforce.
I couldn’t be more excited to partner with SF Goodwill. Back at Penn, at the end of every school year, Goodwill trailers would park on campus collecting the variety of items that students let go. And let me tell you, when it comes time to pack up everything you’ve accumulated over the course of the entire school year for that last day of move out… some things have got to go. So, it became routine to make my trip to the Goodwill trailer with a bin of clothes that were not going to make the trek back to NYC with me. I felt good knowing that my clothes wouldn’t end up in a landfill and that they’d be reused.
I don't know what it is, but something feels magical about taking a piece that once had a past life and giving it a new one now. I wonder what fabulous gala or night out on the town this golden skirt has seen. Doesn’t it feel oh so Gatsby to you? Or that summer dress-where did it go on a weekend getaway?
OUTFIT DETAILS: Outfit #1: Banana Republic Top// Vintage Skirt from Goodwill// Cape Robbin Heels (c/o Marshalls)// INC Jacket from Goodwill// Outfit #2: Forever 21 Jacket from Goodwill// Naked Zebra Dress from Goodwill// Steve Madden Boots
You all know I love a good deal, so the items I’m wearing are ‘buy it now’. No need to bid- you can scoop them for the already listed affordable prices. There’s only one of each though, so be sure to act fast if you’ve got your eye on a specific number.
Want even more options? Hop on over to the SF Goodwill ebay store and scope out the hidden gems you like. [To all my non Bay Area friends- don’t worry, you can shop there too! Ahh, don’t you just love the Internet?] And if you do your due diligence, you’ll find some killer designer pieces too! [I currently have my eye on a Rag & Bone cashmere sweater going for $15.50 and a BCBG dress, tags on [yes, you read that right] going for $9.99.] It's quite literally a fashion treasure hunt. So what are you waiting for?
Happy thrifting!
