My mom always used to tell me that I can't wear white after Labor Day, which I never truly understood-what does the time of year have to do with the colors I wear? I mean, people wear Uggs during the summer time and mini-skirts in the winter. And while I don't necessarily condemn such sartorial choices [personally, I choose comfort first, so no I will not be wearing a mini skirt in the middle of winter, but to each their own], it definitely means that there are more pressing concerns than what color I wear.

Anyways, when I first saw this skirt in Banana Republic (of course), I automatically thought I want this to be part of an all white outfit. My mom taught me, well, tried to teach me, to think of what I can pair prospective new items with before I buy them. Truthfully, I don't do it all the time (oops!?), and in this instance I couldn't really think of anything. But I loved the detailing so much [and the skirt was on sale] that I got it anyway.

Ever since, I've been waiting for the perfect combination of white items. I could never quite find the perfect shade of white to complete the outfit. But with the recent addition of my Superstars to my small but growing sneaker collection [I'm totally on the sneaker train now-my Nike Flyknits are like an everyday staple], I immediately knew that I wanted to pair the skirt and my favorite new kicks together.

From there, everything came together and I finally achieved my all white outfit. 1 year in the making, but hey, better late than never right?

PS: The bag- a hand-me-down from my mom in the 90’s [thank you mom]. I took it to the Coach flagship store on Madison and 57th some time ago, and they polished it up and had it shipped to me in tip-top condition free of charge. Now that’s what I call a lifetime warranty.
